Overview: The Precor EFX 447 elliptical represents the pinnacle of the company’s Precision series machines. The Precision series is derived from their high end commercial products and thus contains many of the same design philosophies and features. The 447 comes with an upgraded touchscreen, CrossRamp technology, and convertible handlebars. Retailing for just around $5,000, the EFX 447 is the highest representative of Precor’s residential model offerings.

Here are some of the highlights of our Precor EFX 447 review…

CrossRamp

CrossRamp is Precor’s main selling point. It allows you to adjust the path of the elliptical through 20 different settings. This customizability allows you to target specific lower body muscle groups, ensuring maximum efficiency in each of your workouts. CrossRamp is fully motorized on the 447, meaning you can adjust your settings mid workout without needing to get off the elliptical.

Customizable Touch Screen Display

The 447 features Precor’s fully customizable 7-inc acrylic LCD touch screen display. The display can be arranged to show the workout metrics you find most useful. The screen will also display music controls and has built in USB charging for your phone or music player.

Multiple Users

The EFX 447 will store customized information for up to 4 unique user IDs, two more than the EFX 423 and EFX 425 offer. Biometrics, like age, height, and weight, can be used to calculate more accurate calorie burning rates for each workout. In addition, you can save your favorite workouts for use as the default settings under your user ID. Your user ID will also store your personal workout goals and make workout suggestions to help you get there faster.

Guru Test Drive

The Precor EFX 447 is the top of the line private use elliptical available from the company. The list of features is impressive on its own and the machine itself does not disappoint. The touchscreen is a welcome upgrade from the lower end models. Once you learn to customize the screen and take advantage of the workout suggestions and Workout Accelerators, it quickly becomes apparent how useful the 447 can be in achieving your fitness goals.

In addition, the 447 comes preloaded with support for the Preva mobile app, meaning you can upload your workout history directly from your elliptical for tracking and sharing. Though I wasn’t a dedicated Preva user before my time with the 447, I can easily seeing the social aspect of my workouts becoming a bigger part of my life.

The technology in the 447 is backed up by rock solid construction. The machine looks and feels like something you’d use in a high end fitness club. Even during heavy use, I didn’t experience any worrying creaks, groans, or rocking. Combined with Precor’s typical warranty, the 447 felt like a machine that would be around for a long time.

Final Thoughts:

I honestly didn’t find anything to complain about during my time with the EFX 447. The technology package works seamlessly, the touchscreen feels appropriately high end for a machine at this price point, and the construction quality brings the whole thing together. If you’re not content with anything but the absolute best money can buy for your home gym, you’d be hard pressed to find a better machine than this. The features mentioned here are available on a few of the lower end models from Precor, but not in a package this well made.

So if budget allows and you are interested in the top of the line Precor EFX 447 or one of the other models in the series you can check it out here.
