Gold’s Gym Elliptical Reviews
Welcome to our Gold’s Gym elliptical reviews. The company is, what I like to call, “the people’s brand” because their exercise equipment is affordable. Walmart now carries the Gold’s Gym brand which makes them that much more of an average consumer’s go-to brand for fitness equipment. With Gold’s Gym, you can get a brand new elliptical for as low as 500 dollars, which is extremely cheap compared to other major brands like ProForm.
Of course, you do sacrifice some quality but if it’s all you can afford, it will work just fine. People use Gold’s Gym ellipticals every single day without complaint. You will get more comfort and ease of use out of an elliptical that utilizes some of the more advanced technologies but if you don’t need the bells and whistles, this is an inexpensive and effective way to go.
I compared Gold’s Gym to ProForm but keep in mind, most of these brands are powered by the same company, ICON Health and Fitness. But even though Gold’s Gym and ProForm come from the same roots, their machines have a lot of differences. If you can afford to pay a little more for an elliptical, it will be worth your investment. Otherwise, check out the ellipticals by Gold’s Gym and pick one you like.
According to our latest Gold’s Gym elliptical reviews they are currently offering 3 different models, the StrideTrainer 380, 410 and the 310. It seems like they are no longer selling the top end model, the StrideTrainer 595, although we are keeping our review of that model for your reference in case you come across it online.
All 3 models are available for $500 or less, which is a good deal. Let’s take a look at what they have to offer….
Each of these models is rear drive, which mimics jogging or running more than walking or climbing like front drive ellipticals. It looks like the maximum stride length is 18″ which is not great for taller users. They all have heart rate monitors, 250. lb max weight capacities and oversized pedals.
The 410 is iFit compatible, which means you can sign up for the service, an interactive workout application that allows you to simulate training in all different terrains and environments via Google maps.
You’ll also find iPod ports, water bottle holders, transport wheels and CoolAire fans depending on which model you choose.
Gold’s Gym Elliptical Trainers…What Do The Experts/Users Say?
What do the experts and users say about the Gold’s Gym elliptical trainers? Most are in agreement that if you’re looking for a high quality machine with a lot of features and new technology, you’re not going to find it here. But at under $500, you really can’t expect to. They do have the basics, the heart monitor, some workout programs, etc. so if you need just a basic machine that you’re gonna put in the basement and use a few times a week, it’s perfectly fine. Just don’t expect it to be the most exciting piece of exercise equipment you ever use.
What about users? Mostly mixed reviews there. They sell a lot of these ellipticals on Amazon so we checked there to see what users had to say. The Stride Trainer 310 has over 70 reviews and an average rating of 3 out of 5 stars. The 380 only has 5 reviews and also an average of 3 stars. The 410 has 6 reviews and again, an average of 3 stars out of a total of 5.
Most of the negative reviews point out that the Gold’s Gym ellipticals are noisy/squeaky, not ideal for short or tall people, not constructed very well and hard to put together. This is not surprising…again for under $500, even under $300 for one of the models, you can’t really expect the world.
