Healthrider logoHealthrider is a fairly new addition to the fitness world. The company started in the early 1990’s when they released a new kind of body building exercise machine that focused on working out your entire body. In 1996, Healthrider joined the Icon Fitness family. Icon is the largest manufacturer of health and fitness equipment in the world, and they own many other brands, like Proform, Weslo, and NordicTrack.

Healthrider is one of the only fitness sites around that doesn’t feature customer reviews right on their site. This is a little disheartening because it usually means that users don’t have a whole lot of good things to say about their machines. When you do find any user reviews for their ellipticals, they are usually pretty positive, but they are difficult to find.

Customer service has been something that Icon fitness has been struggling with for many years. However, unlike some of the other brands that are owned by Icon, Healthrider customers don’t have the benefit of a decent warranty. The elliptical at the top of their line-up has a lifetime frame warranty, but only a 1-year warranty for parts and labor. When compared with other ellipticals out there in this high price range, Healthrider’s pathetic warranty seems like a joke.

However, overall, their machines are well built and should last you for awhile even though that isn’t implied by the warranty. Caution should be taken when considering the purchase of one of these ellipticals to ensure that you are getting exactly what you want. If you can find a machine at a similar price, but built by a more transparent company, then that may be your best bet. At least take the time to read my Healthrider elliptical reviews below before committing to a purchase!

UPDATE: As of 2016 we no longer recommend Healthrider ellipticals as there are so many better options out there. Take a look at NordicTrack and Sole for similar machines with much better features and capabilities.

The company is currently offering three ellipticals for the new year: the HealthRider Tony Little Hybrid Trainer, which is an elliptical and recumbent bike in one machine, the mid-range H50e and the top of the line Stride Trainer 900 model. These would definitely not be our first choice simply because it is a strange mix of offerings. You have one hybrid option, then two ellipticals priced about $1300 apart. We would think there would be one or two in between elliptical trainers to choose from as well, perhaps in that sweet spot of $1000-$1500 where there are many ellipticals offered from other manufacturers.

But in our effort to give all makes and models a fair shake, take a look at our reviews below and decide if these elliptical machines are right for you. They do receive many search queries at Google and other engines so obviously they are somewhat popular.
