Overview: The NordicTrack Elite 16.9 is the top of the line front drive elliptical in the series, with a 15″ HD television, up to a 22″ adjustable stride, iFit and tons of built-in workouts for you to choose from. If you want an elliptical with everything without spending over $2,000, this is the right choice for you.

Let’s look at some of the best features…

Incline Capability

Just like its little sister, the Elite 12.9, the 16.9 allows you to move in increments up to 20 degrees of incline, which really takes your workouts to the next level and is great for those who want cardio training.

iFit Enabled

Like the other front-drive elliptical trainers in the series, the NordicTrack Elite 16.9 is iFit enabled. All you need is a subscription (around $99 per year and worth every penny in our option) to tap into tons of customized workout programs, tracking and monitoring of all of your workouts and Google map integration to work out virtually anywhere in the world.

HDTV

The 16.9 is the only current NordicTrack elliptical that comes with an HD television. For those who like to watch a little TV while they work out, the 15-inch high-def TV is pretty cool. Do you need it with all of the other great features? Not really. But if you don’t have a TV in your workout area, it’s a nice touch.

Guru Test Drive

We test drove the 12.9, which is essentially the same machine without the HDTV. Everything else is basically the same so it applies to this model as well.

To summarize, we loved the smooth motion at all incline levels, the variety of workouts, the resistance levels and most of all, the iFit technology with Google map integration. For the price it’s really a good machine. The HDTV is a nice plus, but if you don’t need it you’ll be fine with one of the other models.

Conclusion

Although it’s definitely a bit pricey for an elliptical, the NordicTrack Elite 16.9 offers a lot of great features that will appeal to users, including the ability to watch HD programming, surf the web and track progress on the 7 inch touchscreen and easily adjust settings right from the handlebars.
