Our SpaceSaver SE9i Review and Test Drive

The new SE9i was recently redesigned to include a new 7″ Smart HD touchscreen, which is more vibrant than previous versions, and really makes everything stand out more, especially the Google maps included with iFit Coach.

For those who are not familiar with iFit, it is a suite of tools that makes your workout more enjoyable, including professionally designed personalized workouts, tracking and sharing capability, and the aforementioned Google maps of any destination worldwide. Note that iFit is subscription based, so you do have to pay a small yearly fee to use it, but in our opinion it is well worth it as it keeps you quite motivated.

The Space Saver SE9i has a nice array of features, and is a perfect choice in the low mid range category. On top of the nice touch display and iFit, you have the 24 resistance levels that you can easily adjust on the handles. You can start at the lower levels and work your way up as you progress.

Power incline is always nice, as you can change the focus on different leg muscles. So between the resistance levels, all of the workouts and the incline, along with the moving handlebars, you can really get a full body workout that is different and more challenging every time you get on the machine.

Another nice touch is the adjustable pedals, which can be narrow or wide, and angled to suit your needs. This reduces discomfort, which is quite noticeable after long workouts.

You get other nice features as well, including transport wheels, water bottle holder, AutoBreeze fan, soft touch grips and a very generous warranty.

Anything we didn’t like? Not really. The only thing worth mentioning is that the Space Saver ellipticals, including the base SE7i model, come with a fixed 18″ stride, which may be a bit uncomfortable for taller users.

Conclusion

The NordicTrack Space Saver SE9i is big on function but small on space, making it ideal for home use. It folds up vertically to give it the smallest storage footprint of any home elliptical machine on the market. At the same time, it offers a range of features including a fully integrated 7-inch touch tablet with web browser, incline, heart rate monitor, iFit technology and tons of workouts.
