Expert Reviews

UPDATE: The E7.1 elliptical is no longer available and has been replaced for the new year with a brand new SpaceSaver model. You can check out our SpaceSaver SE7i review here and see if it’s the right choice for you.

“The E7.1 is varation of the lineup of ellipticals that NordicTrack is producing off of the Precor elliptical patent. These machines are some of the strongest values on the market.” – Treadmill Doctor

“I do recommend if you are a hardcore exerciser, or extremely overweight, you’ll probably want to upgrade to a more heavy duty machine…Otherwise, the NordicTrack E7.1 is an excellent value buy. It has many of the features you will find on more expensive ellipticals and yet it sells at a very reasonable price.” – Fitness Equipment Source

“Surprisingly many raved about the easy assembly, which does not happen often with exercise equipment, so I would opt out on the installation fee if you would prefer as many say it was a breeze to assemble with the given instructions. One common complaint was the fact the display does not tell you miles covered during your workout, only the number of strides completed.” – NordicTrack Consumer Ratings

User Reviews

“I didn’t realize that this always has a 10 % incline. There is a bit of noise in the wheel area that appeared after about 1 hour of use. I have only used this machine for a little over a week, it does provide a good workout. Very easy to fold up, a great feature offered on the 990 as well.” – Toe (Northern California), NT Customer

“I love it so far. I am using the built-in workouts and they are awesome! The only thing I don’t like is that it doesn’t tell you how far you have gone by distance. Instead it tells you in strides. Not a big deal. I’m still exhausted when I’m done! I love the built-in fan too!!” – Blondie (Baltimore, MD), NT Customer

“I have been researching different models and I decided that this was the best one without having to spend a lot of money. It was even on sale for the best price that I’ve seen. It did take some time to put together, but the instructions were well written.” – Kb0mhh (Duluth,MN), NT Customer

“I’ve had this machine for over 6 months and wanted to tell you that I still enjoy using it every other day. It is very quiet and definitely gives you a great work-out with easy to adjust features.” – Pate (Napa, CA), NT Customer

“My boyfriend set it up for me and it was so easy so don’t spend extra for the set up! He and I both love all the different programs although I just free stride most of the time! The only thing I wish was better with this is a more powerful fan.” – Niferlynn (Wisconsin), NT Customer

Conclusion

The NordicTrack E 7.1 is an excellent valued elliptical that is highly recommended among experts and users together. It will accommodate most users and it will last for a long time if it is not overly used. Keep in mind that this elliptical has a 1 Touch 10° to 30° Power Ramp, meaning the elliptical is automatically set at a 10° incline and it can be adjusted from there. One of the user complaints above stated that they were disappointed with the starting point of 10°. However, note that this incline setting will give the user a challenging and beneficial workout. You will see results faster because of this feature. This elliptical has many of those great features that will give the user a diverse workout. One last thing to note is that it has an adjustable stride, which is a huge plus.

**LATEST UPDATE** We recently checked out the new SpaceSaver SE7i and were impressed with the upgrades to the previous E7.1 model. You have a higher weight capacity, more resistance levels and power adjustable incline, among other new features. Just note the stride length is now a fixed 18″ as opposed to 18-20″ adjustable, so taller users might want to opt for one of the ACT models that offer a longer stride length.
