Life Fitness Elliptical Reviews and Ratings
Life Fitness was founded over 40 years ago with one objective in mind…helping people to live healthier.
Throughout its existence, that basic purpose has remained foremost in the minds of the designers and manufacturers who bring their wide range of ellipticals, treadmills, stair climbers, cross trainers and other exercise equipment to life.
The result is one of the better product lines on the market today, no matter what your individual needs.
Before the introduction of the Life Fitness elliptical, the extensive product line began with the now iconic Lifecycle, the first piece of electronic exercise equipment on the market.
With the introduction of this exciting piece of equipment, Life Fitness took the world of exercise to the next level by bringing cutting edge technology to the mix.
Today, all of their equipment features a wide cross-section of features to help tailor your workout precisely, whether you’re exercising at the gym or at home.
While Life Fitness equipment tends to be on the pricey side, averaging over $2,000 for an elliptical machine or bike, the amount of thought put into each piece makes it well worth the extra expense.
These are machines that can do everything from syncing your workout to your heart rate to giving you exactly the cardio experience you need to providing you with a variety of workout routines so that exercise never becomes boring.

The Current Life Fitness Elliptical Lineup – Lots of Options For You
The company currently offers a lot of different choices when it comes to elliptical trainers.
You have the X series, the E Series, the FS Series and the Club Series…
X Series
The most affordable of all of the Life Fitness ellipticals is the X Series, which includes the X1, X3 and the top of the series X5(recently discontinued).
The X Series are smooth, quiet and well-designed, with 20″ strides and 350 lb. maximum user weight capacities. The X3 adds something called Coach Zone training, targeting specific muscle groups like the arms and glutes. There’s only one GO console option on all X models.
As of early 2023 it looks like the X Series may have been discontinued altogether. We’ll keep an eye out to see if it returns!
E Series
Moving up you have the E Series: the recently introduced E1, E3 and the top of the line E5.
The E Series has everything the X Series does, but adds an additional console option called Track Connect. The E3 gives you Coach Zone training like the X3, and E5 actually gives you an adjustable stride from 18-24 inches, rather than the fixed 20″ on all other models.
Note that the E Series also gives you higher 400 lb. max user weight capacity and better warranty coverage on the parts.
Club Series
At the top of the line you have the Club Series, the new Club Series Plus, the high end Platinum Club Series elliptical and the ultra expensive Platinum Club Flex Strider.
The Club Series is as close as it gets to the Life Fitness elliptical trainers you’d find at your health club. They’re built extra strong to stand up to heavier usage, and have features and capabilities not found on the other models.
FS Series (Recently Discontinued)
Recently Life Fitness introduced two brand new mid-priced models, the FS4 and the FS6, which feature a smaller, more compact footprint, side-drive technology, and touch screen consoles.
The FS4 gives you a fixed 22″ stride and the FS6 gives you an adjustable 18-26″ stride. These exciting new releases represent a departure from the typical heavy, bulky rear drive ellipticals that the company is known for.
According to most Life Fitness elliptical reviews, you really can’t go wrong with any of the models…the only sticking point is the hefty price tag….but you get what you pay for.
What do the experts say about the Life Fitness ellipticals?
Most industry experts and personal trainers like these machines a lot. Life Fitness is a great brand, which is why so many health clubs around the world feature their ellipticals and other gym equipment.
The experts like the variety of features, the resistance levels, programs and extra bells and whistles. The warranties are pretty good, but not much better than many of the other brands that cost a little less. They are very easy to use as well.
Even though they are high quality, advanced ellipticals you can get right on and within a short amount of time figure everything out. They are very user-friendly and the motion is smooth and fluid.
Of course, no business is perfect and Life Fitness ellipticals are not without their flaws. One thing most critics agree on is the fact that these machines are very pricey.
The cheapest model, the X1 cross trainer, starts around $2000 and it goes all the way up to $3000 or higher depending on the different options you have. You can get a very good machine with all of the features you really need for around $1500 or so from companies like NordicTrack, Sole and Horizon.
However, if you have the budget for it, you certainly won’t be disappointed.
One thing that has been improving is their customer service. In the past some customers have complained about not being able to get the assistance they require. But this has always been an industry wide problem unfortunately.
Even the biggest manufacturer of ellipticals, ICON Fitness, has been known to have real issues with customer service. But given the quality of the Life Fitness machines, customer service shouldn’t be something you have to worry about anyway.
What’s the bottom line on Life Fitness elliptical trainers?
The latest elliptical trainer lineup from Life Fitness is great, and you can find all of the latest models on sale at the official site to check them out.
Their machines are equally at home in a professional gym or a home workout space, and are ideal for those looking for a more club-quality machine for their home gym.
They are easy to use and give you a more comprehensive workout than most other popular brands available today. You may be paying more but you are also getting more for your money, with one of the widest range of features available on any line of exercise equipment.
Most high end gyms, and even some regular gyms, have a number of Life Fitness machines in the cardio area. You might have used one without even realizing it.
We’ll be reviewing many of the more popular Life Fitness ellipticals on this site so check back often.
Bottom line is, these are very high end machines, and you can get a comparable machine for at least $500 or so less.
Still, if you have the money and you want a gym quality workout at home, you really can’t go wrong with a Life Fitness elliptical, or any other exercise machine that the company makes.
