Overview

The Life Fitness Platinum Club Series elliptical trainer is the top of the line cardio machine from the high end brand, bringing commercial gym quality to the home. If money is no object, this one is as good as it gets…one of the most well built and well designed machines on the market.

Let’s take a look at some of the best features…

Console and Color Choices

The Platinum Club model comes with a choice of three different consoles, unlike the regular Club Series elliptical, which only has one option. You can choose from the base Explore Console, a 7″ LCD display, the mid-level Discover SI, a 10 inch touch screen with internet, or the top end Discover SE3 with a 16-inch touch screen with internet.

You can also choose from 4 different frame colors: Arctic Silver is standard, and for an extra couple hundred you can choose Black Onyx, Diamond White or Titanium Storm. So you can really choose exactly how you want your elliptical to look and operate.

Smooth/Natural Motion

The Platinum Club Series elliptical is super smooth, with WhisperStride technology, one of the most natural motions you’ll find anywhere. It is truly a gym-quality workout, with minimal impact and perfect ergonomic design. Life Fitness is known for this, which is why it is the first choice for high-end health clubs across the world.

Heart Rate Monitoring

You get LifePulse Digital Heart Rate Monitoring on the handles as well as the ability to use a wireless chest strap for more accurate readings. This will help to keep you in your ideal zone to maximize your results.

Other Features

The Platinum Club Series also features easy resistance controls, plenty of built in workouts including intervals and cardio, transport wheels, reading rack, accessory tray, oversized non-slip pedals, a 20″ stride, cup holder and 26 different resistance levels.

Life Fitness Platinum Club Series Test Drive

The Platinum Club Series CrossTrainer is truly a commercial gym machine, not a pared down version of one like some of the other brands offer. It is strong and durable and built for years of heavy use. A family of 5 can bang away at this thing for years and it will be like new years later.

The console selection is great, as you can choose the one that appeals to you. If you can swing it, go for one of the two touch screen displays, as they give you more options as well as internet connectivity. The Discover SI is an additional $1000, but it gives you wired/wireless internet, a large touch screen, Bluetooth connectivity, up to 42 workouts, 8 custom workouts, and unlimited user profiles.

The Discover SE3 has all of the features of the SI but with a 16″ screen, at an extra cost of $2000.

So if you go with the Explore Console in Arctic Silver, the Platinum Club will cost you $5,999. If you opt for the Discover SE3 Console in one of the premium colors, it will cost you over $8,000. So there is a wide range of choices for you.

Regardless of which console you choose, the feel is second to none. You will love the elliptical motion…it’s as if it was designed just for you. We tried out one with the Discover SI Console and really enjoyed all of the different workouts. For those looking for cardio training there are plenty of programs to choose from.

The stride is a fixed 20″, which is a step up from 18″ on the Club series model, although not as diverse as the new Platinum Club Series Flex Strider, with its 0-36″ variable stride.

You get 26 resistance levels as well, which will help you vary your workouts. They can be changed easily on the handles. Heart rate monitoring is pretty accurate as well, although a wireless heart rate monitor is not included with the elliptical. It would be nice at this price for this to be included.

The only problem with the Life Fitness Platinum Club Series elliptical is the fact that once you use one, it’s kind of hard to use anything else. It’s that good. If we could afford one we would have one in our homes, but unfortunately we have to settle for something a little more in our price range.

Conclusion

For those that have the money to afford them, Life Fitness ellipticals are the ultimate cardio machines, and the Platinum Club Series stands at the top. Its a fully customizable, rock-solid commercial quality crosstrainer with enough features and capabilities to satisfy all users.

Although it is certainly pricey, it is worth it for what you are getting. If you are in the market for a high-end machine, this one will definitely fit the bill.
