Proform PRO 9.0 NE Elliptical – A Great SpaceSaver

Before we start our ProForm PRO 9.0 NE elliptical review, let me say that it is not every day that you come across an elliptical trainer that perfectly suits your needs in terms of price, features, and ease of use. This is one such machine in my opinion.

Let me tell you why. Here are the highlights:

Very Easy to Assemble

The PRO 9.0 NE comes fully assembled. You can take it out of the box and set it up in three simple steps. As someone who is not mechanically inclined and hates reading lengthy instruction manuals, I cannot tell you how happy I was when I found out that I did not have to spend hours trying to figure out what goes where.

It just took me a few minutes to set it up and trust me – if I can do it, anyone can. It is a huge advantage and saves you a ton of time and effort.

Adjustable Stride

The stride length can be adjusted to suit your natural stride. So, the machine can be used by multiple users.

Gym-Like Workout Experience

For a budget-friendly machine, the PRO 9.0 NE scores quite high on the quality of workout experience.

It has an adjustable digital incline. You can change the angle to target specific groups of muscles in your lower body.

There are 22 levels of resistance. You can start with the easiest level and move your way up slowly to increase the intensity of your workouts.

There are a total of 28 built-in workout apps – 14 calorie workouts and 14 performance workouts.

The machine is also iFit compatible. You can use Google Maps to choose a hike or trail from anywhere in the world and set your machine to simulate the terrain. Also, you can create a profile on ifit.com and get a customized workout program designed specifically to meet your fitness goals.

Based on the workout program you choose, the incline and resistance level of your machine will change automatically. You will also have access to audio coaching, which will keep you motivated enough to finish your workout sessions, no matter how exhausted you feel.

The machine also has a built-in heart rate monitor tool which helps you stay in your target zone during your workout sessions.

Multimedia Entertainment

The PRO 9.0 NE has an integrated tablet holder and an iPod-compatible sound system with speakers. So, you can access the files in your tablet or listen to your favorite songs as you sweat it out on the machine.

The machine is built from commercial-quality steel and is quite sturdy, which is something you would expect from ProForm. Other features include a cooling fan, a built-in water bottle holder, front-mounted transport wheels, and adjustable leveling feet to keep the machine stable even on uneven surfaces.

Did we find any negatives during our ProForm PRO 9.0 NE reviews? I really had to think hard to come up with the things I do not like about the machine. I can only think of two things:

1. The machine does not have a full-color backlit display. While it does not make a great deal of difference to your workout experience, it could have been a nice addition.

2. The Bluetooth-compatible wireless heart rate straps are not included with the machine. You have to buy them separately. Again, not a deal breaker but would have been nice.

That said, the machine is loaded with features and offers great value for your money. So, despite these minor nitpicks, I have to say it is still a great buy.

Final Thoughts

The PRO 9.0 NE is easy to use, sturdy, built to offer a great workout experience, and comes with a very reasonable price tag.
If you’re looking for a solid elliptical at just around $1000, the new ProForm PRO 9.0 NE is a very good choice for you.
