Overview:
The Vision S7100 is the most compact elliptical in the high-end company’s lineup, with smooth, natural suspension and Perfect Stride technology. With impressive incline capability, a power adjustable stride and plenty of built in workout programs, this one is definitely worth considering.
Let’s look at some of the best features this elliptical has to offer…
Suspension Elliptical Technology
An exclusive feature only found on Vision and their sister company Matrix’s ellipticals, the S7100 features wheelless and trackless design, eliminating the friction created on most other machines. This allows for smoother, more natural motion that makes you feel like you are floating on air.
It also means there is less wear and tear on the machine, meaning it will last much longer with little to no maintenance required.
Prefect Stride
This is another exclusive feature that you don’t find elsewhere, that puts you in the ideal position so that you move in the proper elliptical pattern throughout your workout. This helps you burn more calories and have the ability to stay on longer with less fatigue.
Tons of Workouts
The Vision S7100 elliptical has 17 built in workout programs, including fat burn, glute toner, heart rate workouts, intervals, total body and more, allowing you to target different muscle groups and build up your cardio at the same time. It also includes the patented Sprint 8 interval program, a unique workout that delivers maximum results in a minimal amount of time.
Adjustable Stride
You get a generous power adjustable stride from 20″ up to 21.5″, which is perfect for most users and gives you a lot of flexibility. Note that the S60 model has a fixed 20″ stride.
Great Incline Capability
The Vision S7100 gives you the ability to ramp up your training (no pun intended) with incline from 18% all the way up to an impressive 37%. This is great for those that want to get an even better lower body workout, targeting more muscle groups and boosting cardio fitness in the process. You can start at the lower inclines and work your way up.
Other Nice Features
The 7100 gives you plenty of other great features as well, including up to 20 resistance levels to challenge yourself, Passport compatibility to watch HD videos on your TV, a low step on height of 8.5″, an accessory tray and a water bottle holder.
Vision S7100 Elliptical Test Drive
One thing you notice right away with the Vision S7100 is its compact design, which makes it a welcome addition to any home gym, especially one with limited space. It’s only 61.5″ long, compared to about 80″ or more on a traditional elliptical trainer. So that’s a really welcome benefit there.
But even better than that is the suspension technology, which is something you really need to experience to appreciate. As we mentioned, there are no wheels and no track like you find on most other machines, so you don’t have that constricted motion here. It’s all “suspended”, so it really is like you are working out in mid air. It’s a very nice, freeing feeling.
The PerfectStride technology also adds to that experience, as although you feel like you are floating, it’s a very controlled motion that ensures that you are working out properly. That’s really important if you want to get the most out of the machine.
Vision has actually discontinued their regular elliptical line in favor of the suspension technology, which can also be found on the company’s Matrix ellipticals. This seems to be where things are headed, and it makes a lot of sense. Better motion for users, less wear and tear on the machine. A win win.
We like the fact that you get a nice array of built in workouts here, which allows you to switch it up from one workout to the next. You can choose from heart rate programs, interval training including Sprint 8, calorie goals, muscle groups. There’s also manual mode so you can just set your desired incline or resistance level. So there’s plenty for you to work with on the Vision S7100, meaning you will never get bored.
Transitioning from one incline level to the next is seamless, as is the transition from one resistance level to the next. The machine feels very sturdy and well-designed, and the console is very user friendly, giving you all of the workout data you need.
Are there any negatives? Sure, there are a few. For starters, unlike the company’s Horizon and Matrix ellipticals, the Vision ellipticals do not come with ViaFit workout tracking capability. We’re not sure why this is not included on the S7100 and the other models.
Also, although the console does give you everything you need, it would be nice to have a touch screen at this price level. It’s not a deal breaker, but it is something that more and more ellipticals are featuring these days, especially the higher end models.
But besides these things, the Vision S7100 has everything you need and plenty of unique features you won’t find anywhere else.
Final Thoughts on the Vision S7100
If you’re in the market for a gym quality elliptical trainer that is compact in size and gives you more freedom of movement, the Vision S7100 is a very good choice.
It gives you plenty of workout programs to choose from, an adjustable stride, power incline capability, plenty of resistance levels and an impressive warranty. The max user weight is 325 lbs., so if you need something even more durable take a look at the S60 and S70 models.
If you like the idea of tracking your workouts and touch screen technology, check out the company’s Matrix ellipticals…just as high end as the Vision ellipticals with even more advanced technology.
