NordicTrack SE7i – Affordable Elliptical With Great Features

Finding a compact, high quality elliptical trainer that fits your budget can be a difficult task at times. The cheap ones usually do not have the features you need for a complete workout and the high quality ones are usually very expensive. Rarely do you come across a machine that fits your criteria both in terms of quality and price. NordicTrack SpaceSaver SE7i is one such training machine.

The SpaceSaver SE7i is a rear drive elliptical trainer that is designed to offer a gym-like workout experience at home. Easy to store and easy to assemble, the machine is packed with a wide range of features. Let’s take a closer look:

Space-saving Design

The first thing that strikes you when you take a look at the SpaceSaver SE7i is its compact design. Also, the machine can be folded up on the front end and placed upright. With a footprint of 32”x28” when folded, it is one of the smallest machines available on the market today. This is a big plus as most people don’t have a ton of room in their basements or gym area. So being able to fold it up and stow it away in a closet is pretty cool.

Easy to Assemble

Unlike many other elliptical machines, which take a lot of time to assemble, the SE7i can be assembled in three simple steps. You do not have to deal with a complicated assembly manual and a million spare parts wondering what goes where. However I recommend you get someone to help you out just to make the task a little easier. It always helps to have an extra hand when putting something together.

Backlit Display

There is a five-inch backlit display which shows time, distance, calories burned, resistance level, and other details required to track the progress of your workout. It’s a nice readout and it’s easy to see everything you need.

Adjustable Incline

The ramp angle can be adjusted to increase the intensity of the workout and target different groups of muscles in your lower body.

The best thing about the incline is that it allows you to maintain an elliptical motion even when you raise it. It is designed to resemble your natural stride pattern. In other machines, the elliptical motion is usually distorted once you raise the angle, which puts a great deal of stress and strain on your joints. It is an amazing feature which is generally found only in expensive commercial-grade elliptical trainers.

Workout Programs

The machine has 22 resistance levels, which can be changed at the touch of a button, and 24 workout programs. The handlebars contain CardioGrip sensors that monitor your heart rate during the workout.

The machine is also iFit compatible. You can visit iFit.com, enter your physical stats and fitness goals, and create a personal profile. Based on your profile, you can choose a customized fitness routine designed by professional fitness trainers. The workout routine you choose will control the incline and resistance level of your machine and also provide you with audio instructions. You can also track the progress of your workouts to see how close you are to reaching your fitness goals.

The feature not only makes your workouts seem more interactive, but also helps you stay motivated and reach your goals quickly which is pretty cool.

Oversized Foot Pedals

The foot pedals are large and ergonomically designed. You can also adjust the angle of the pedals to make sure your feet are comfortably positioned during the workout.

18 lb Flywheel

The inertia-enhanced flywheel is designed to give your workout a more natural feel.

Apart from this, there are plenty of other features like transport wheels, built-in water bottle holder, cooling fan, and a surprisingly good speaker system.

Downsides

Their aren’t too many negatives, but we like to make you aware of any that we come across just so you aren’t surprised should you encounter these issues. The SE7i has only an 18” stride and it is not adjustable. So, if you are tall or long-limbed, you may find it a little difficult to use this machine. This is also the case for the more feature-packed SE9i. But it’s not a deal breaker as far as we are concerned. Also, it is a bit heavy so you will be better off if you have someone to help you move it around, if you are in fact stowing it away post use.

Warranty

The SpaceSaver SE7i from NordicTrack comes with a one-year labor warranty, two-year parts warranty, and a lifetime frame warranty.

What’s the bottom line?

On the whole, the SE7i is sturdy, compactly designed, and stacked with features. If you are looking for an affordable elliptical machine for a gym-like workout experience at home, the check out the new SpaceSaver SE7i…it’s a very good choice.
