Overview: The Vision S7200 HRT takes training to the next level with a super-smooth elliptical motion that minimizes impact and allows you to choose the stride length that works best for you. With a compact footprint, it’s a great choice for the home gym.

Let’s take a look at some of the best features you’ll find…

Perfect Stride Technology

Only the suspension trainers have Perfect Stride, which creates a “floating on air” experience with the most natural, smooth motion. You can adjust the stride from 20″ to 23″ with the touch of a button, allowing you to target different muscle groups efficiently. It is a great improvement on the typical elliptical motion, which sometimes has dead spots and surges at certain points.

Incline Capability

In addition to the adjustable stride, the S7200HRT gives you incline capability, allowing for further muscle targeting. You can choose from 13% all the way up to 39%, which really gets the heart pumping.

Workout Selection

You get 16 built-in workouts to choose from, including Vision’s patented Sprint 8 fat burning interval program, plus hills, weight loss, heart rate, summit, glutes, hikes, custom and goal workouts.

Other Features

The Vision S7200 HRT gives you two ways to measure your heart rate. There are contact grips, like you find on most elliptical machines, and also a free Polar wireless chest strap that gives you more accurate readings. It is also Passport ready, meaning you can sync the machine with your TV to view high definition video of two destinations: the American Southwest and Northern Italy. The player is sold separately and you can choose additional destinations as well.

You get a water bottle holder, an accessory tray, multi-position handlebar and a very solid warranty.

Vision S7200 HRT Test Drive

Vision is one of the pioneers in the suspension elliptical category, which is becoming more popular due to the stride adjustability and the natural, comfortable feel of the elliptical motion. Currently, four of their 6 ellipticals are suspension models. Since there is no wheel track, the S7200 is super-quiet and it requires a lot less maintenance that a traditional model.

Stepping on the machine, you immediately notice the sturdy feel. This is a well-constructed, well-designed piece of exercise equipment, and it should be for the price. You don’t need to pay $3,000+ for an elliptical machine, but if you’re going to, this is the right machine to pick.

We liked the fact that you have multiple places to put your hands on the moving arms, so you can choose what position you like, or change it up throughout the workout. It’s nice to know that your hands don’t have to be in one place for an hour. The LED display is basic, but functional. It gives you all of your relevant workout stats, with your resistance level, watts, calories, METs, heart rate, incline, distance, time and strides on top and touch controls on the bottom.

We did a few of the HRT workouts as well as the patented Sprint 8 program. We’ve done Sprint 8 on other Vision ellipticals as well, and it feels better on the S7200 HRT than the traditional models, due to the smoothness of the motion. Although all of Vision’s machines feel natural, the suspension trainers are just that much more balanced and impact-free, so they make for a more enjoyable experience overall.

We used the wireless chest strap that is included to give us a more accurate reading, which helps you get more out of your workouts. We also tried some manual workouts, seeing how smooth the transition is from one resistance level to another, and one incline level to another. We were impressed at how seamlessly you can go up and down from one level to another.

Now you may be asking…any negatives? We would say that the only drawback is the basic display. Although it gives you all of the information you need, it would be nice to get a touch screen like you find on some other models in the price range. But it certainly isn’t a deal breaker.

Overall, the S7200 HRT provides an incredible workout, and the suspension aspect truly minimizes impact on the joints. You’ll definitely be able to reach your fitness goals, and with the Passport videos on your TV, it adds a whole new motivational dimension.

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for a high end trainer for your home, the S7200 HRT is one of the best suspension trainers on the market. It’s relatively compact, extremely well designed and offers you the ability to adjust the stride, resistance level and incline for workout variability.

With Sprint 8 and 15 other workout programs to choose from, plus Passport’s high definition videos on your TV, you’ll be more than motivated to hop on every day and reach your fitness goals.
