Overview: The Nautilus E614 elliptical is a nice step up from the previous entry level E514c model, offering an increased stride length, 22 different workout programs and Nautilus Connect/MyFitnessPal capability. For just $50 more, it’s a much better option in the price category given what it offers.

Multiple Workout Programs

All of the Nautilus ellipticals offer a nice array of programs. This one has a total of 22 to choose from, including 12 profile, 9 heart rate control, 4 custom, 2 fitness test, 1 recovery test and 1 quick start. So you have plenty of options to choose from to vary your routine from one workout to the next. For even more check out the E616 model with 29 built in programs.

Pedals and Stride

The E614 features large, comfortable pedals that articulate, mimicking your natural stride more effectively than stationary pedals. You also have 6 levels of inline and a 20″ stride (compared to 18″ on the E514c). Taller users will appreciate the longer stride as it will feel more natural and comfortable. Really tall users should take a look at the new E618 elliptical with a 22″ stride.

Two Handlebar Choices

There are static as well as moving handlebars, so you can choose whether to hold on and just work your legs or to engage your upper body at the same time. This allows you to further enhance your workout and target different muscle groups.

Appealing Console

The E614 has an enhanced DualTrack display with two enhanced LCD monitors, a step up from the E514c model. This is a cool feature because you can put your iPad or magazine on the included rack and still see your workout progress. Usually you have to lift it up to see your stats.

Nautilus Connect/MyFitness Pal

Every new Nautilus exercise machine comes with Nautilus Connect and MyFitnessPal, two applications that allow you to track all of your results, monitor your progress as well as share the information with friends and family. MyFitnessPal is a way to track your nutrition and diet and formulate a plan to reach your weight loss and fitness goals. It’s not as fancy as ICON’s iFit technology but it’s impressive nonetheless and really helps motivate you.

Additional Features

Some of the other nice features are a three speed fan, water bottle holder, heart rate monitoring and acoustic chambered speakers with mp3 import to listen to your favorite tunes while you work out. Nice touches for a low cost machine.

Anything we didn’t like?

The Nautilus E614 elliptical is definitely an improvement upon the E514c, but there are some drawbacks to the machine. It’s not the highest quality trainer, but you can’t expect it to be at this price level. Some people have complained about the USB connection being a bit spotty.

Also, as with the other models the warranty is not great, so you’ll need to get an extended warranty if you do decide to buy it just to cover yourself in case something goes wrong.

Nautilus E614 Elliptical – Bottom Line

For an entry level machine, the E614 trainer from Nautilus is not a bad choice as it has a generous stride, nice amount of workouts and some cool comfort features you don’t always find.

It has received good customer reviews overall, and you can take a look through them to see if it appeals to you. Also check out its sister model, the Schwinn 430, which is essentially the same machine and much more popular.
