The TRUE M50 elliptical machine is a step up from the entry level M30 model, adding multi-grip handles to further vary the workout and orthopedic cushioned footpads. These are gym-level commercial machines with a super-small footprint to fit any home environment. Plus plenty of tools to keep your workouts intense and rewarding.

Let’s take a look at some of the highlights of our TRUE M5 elliptical review…

Small Footprint

With their center Core Drive these machines are nearly half the length of front and rear drive models, making them ideal for any amount of space you have. TRUE is known for this space-friendly construction, and it’s something that separates them from the competition.

Heart Rate Cruise Control

The machine includes a Polar heart rate monitor for increased accuracy of the reading, and you can lock in your ideal rate and have the machine automatically adjust itself to keep you in that range for the duration of your work out. This is key to getting the most out of every workout you do, yielding the best results for you.

Cardio 360

The TRUE M50 elliptical offers its own virtual trainer for you, giving you customized workouts targeting all of your muscle groups from your calves all the way up to your chest and arms. You can also hop on the side steps and just work your upper body, which is very cool. Most elliptical trainers do not offer this capability, and it’s a welcome addition, allowing you to change things up.

True M50 Panel

Additional Features

Just like the M30, there’s an orange LED display which gives you all of the stats from your workout. You have a total of 12 different workouts which include hills, speed and performance. There are contact heart sensors in addition to the included chest strap. You also have a sleep mode to save power while the machine is not in use.

Anything we didn’t like?

We like most everything about the TRUE M50. It is on the expensive side, around $2,999, a few hundred more than the M30 model. But you do get what you pay for and this elliptical trainer offers a lot of great features. The warranty could be much stronger as it only offers 5 years on parts and 1 year on labor. But you shouldn’t have any problems given the superior build. We have had a TRUE treadmill for 10 years and we’ve never had a single mechanical issue with it.

What’s the bottom line?

You can’t go wrong with the TRUE M50 elliptical no matter how you slice it. It’s an expensive unit, but given the commercial-grade construction coupled with the small footprint and great features, it’s worth every penny in our opinion, as well as many experts. It received a Best Buy Compact Elliptical award for several years in a row, as have many of the other TRUE elliptical models.
